Terms & Conditions

Last reviewed: 1 May 2026

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Taxza website at taxza.fyi and any tools, calculators, content, or services made available through it (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who we are

Taxza is an independent web utility operated from Cape Town, South Africa. We are not a registered tax practice and have no affiliation with the South African Revenue Service (SARS). For questions about these Terms, contact us via the contact page.

2. Nature of the Service

The Service provides estimating tools for South African provisional tax, import duty and VAT, and salary after tax, along with related educational content. All output is indicative and is intended to help users understand or budget for tax outcomes. It is not a substitute for professional advice, a SARS assessment, or a formal tax calculation prepared by a registered tax practitioner.

3. No professional advice

Nothing on the Service constitutes legal, tax, accounting, or financial advice. We do not have a client relationship with users of the free calculators. You should independently verify any number that affects a tax filing, financial decision, or commercial transaction with SARS or a registered SAIT, SAICA, or SAIPA practitioner. See also our disclaimer.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to break South African law or any law applicable to you.
  • Submit content through any form (contact, subscription, AI assistant) that is unlawful, misleading, abusive, or that contains another person's confidential information without authority.
  • Attempt to interfere with, scrape at scale, reverse-engineer, or overload the Service, or to bypass any rate limits or access controls.
  • Resell, white-label, or commercially redistribute the calculators or their results without our prior written consent.

5. Accounts and subscriptions

Some features (deadline reminders, AI tax assistant, document checklists) require an account or paid subscription. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your credentials secure. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, abuse the Service, or attempt to defraud our payment systems.

6. Content ownership

The Taxza brand, design, written articles, and underlying calculator code are owned by Taxza. You may quote short extracts from articles for non-commercial purposes with attribution and a link back. The South African tax brackets, rebates, and thresholds encoded in our calculators are facts published by SARS and are not claimed as our intellectual property.

7. No warranty

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that calculator results will be free of errors, that they will exactly match a SARS assessment, or that the Service will be uninterrupted. Tax law and SARS rates change; although we update the calculators promptly, there may be a window between a SARS announcement and our update.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Taxza, its operators, and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service, including (without limitation) underpaid or overpaid tax, SARS penalties or interest, lost profits, or business interruption. Where liability cannot be excluded, our aggregate liability is limited to the greater of ZAR 500 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Third-party links and services

The Service may link to SARS, news outlets, and other third-party websites for reference. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices.

10. Changes to the Service or Terms

We may add, change, or remove features, articles, or calculators at any time. We may also update these Terms; the "Last reviewed" date above will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from your use of the Service is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.

12. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent through the contact page or to hello@taxza.fyi.
